Scholarly Interest:
My current research focuses on the host-pathogen interface with dual interests in host response to pathogen and pathogen response to host. My work seeks to understand, at the molecular level, how Salmonella enterica regulates its genes in response to environmental signals present in the gastrointestinal tract, the pathogenic mechanisms by which Salmonella induces enteritis and how the host resonds to Salmonella infection. I am also interested in how Salmonella enterica survives in the external environment and is transmitted within populations.
