MOLECULAR GENETICIST, ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/FULL
PROFESSOR, TENURE TRACK
The Department of Veterinary Pathobiology,
College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, Texas A&M
University, invites applications for a molecular geneticist focused
broadly on infectious and/or genetic diseases. This is a 12-month,
tenure-track, fully-funded Assistant/Associate Professor position with
a 70% assignment to research, a 25% assignment to teaching, and a 5%
assignment to academic service and administration.
The successful candidate will have primary
responsibility for development of a federally funded program focused
on the genetics, genomics, and/or molecular components of host-pathogen
interactions and/or genetic disease. The successful candidate
will be expected to participate in an undergraduate and/or graduate
course in genetics or their area of expertise. The successful
candidate will also participate in the training of graduate students
and post-doctoral associates; participate in collaborative research
with other CVM genetics/infectious disease researchers and research
programs with off-campus scientists located in the Texas System of
State Experiment Stations; and participate in interdisciplinary training
programs. Academic service is expected to include departmental,
college, or university committees, professional organization committees,
editorial or grant review teams, and administrative responsibilities
where appropriate.
Applicants must have extensive training in genetics/genomics,
and hold a PhD in genetics or related discipline. Post-doctoral training,
demonstrated grantsmanship, a focused publication record, teaching
experience and academic citizenship are required.

Salary and rank are commensurate with accomplishments
and experience. Research space assignment and start-up will be

MOLECULAR IMMUNOLOGIST/IMMUNOGENETICIST,
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/FULL PROFESSOR, TENURE TRACK
The Department of Veterinary Pathobiology,
College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Texas A&M
University invites applications for a tenure track, fully funded, twelve
month Associate or Full Professor position in molecular immunology
or immunogenetics. Candidate should hold a PhD in either immunology/microbiology
or genetics. A DVM degree is desirable, but not mandatory. Applicants
with interest and experience in infectious diseases of cattle are especially
encouraged to apply. In addition, a successful track record of sustained
extramural funding, superior grantsmanship, significant publication
record, and the training of graduate students and postdoctoral associates
are required. Applicants must be eligible for appointment to the graduate
faculty at Texas A&M University.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute
75% effort in research, and have an established, extramurally funded
research program in molecular immunology of infectious diseases and
immunogenetics. It is anticipated that this program will lead to improved
understanding of host-pathogen interactions and genetics associated
with control of and resistance to infectious diseases of animals and
humans. A major focus on immunogenetics of cattle is especially desirable.
Collaborations will be expected with other scientists studying infectious
disease problems in livestock relevant to Texas agriculture and public
health. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate
in graduate student education (20% effort) by coordinating a course
in immunogenetics and team teaching a course in advanced immunology.
The direction of graduate students and postdoctoral scientists is also
expected. In addition, 5% effort will be allocated to academic and
administrative assignments. Rank, salary and start-up will be contingent
upon experience and national reputation.

APPLIED POULTRY HEALTH RESEARCH
The Department of Veterinary Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical
Sciences, and the Department of Poultry Science, College of Agriculture,
Texas A&M University, invites applications for a joint, tenure-track,
fully funded, 12-month faculty position in applied poultry health research.
Applicants must possess a DVM (or equivalent degree) or PhD degree.
Candidates who are board certified or eligible by the American College
of Poultry Veterinarians or American College of Veterinary Microbiologists
will be preferred. Experience in applied poultry research or extension
is highly desirable. The successful candidate will establish an externally
funded research program aimed at solving poultry health related issues
and work in conjunction with other faculty and extension personnel
serving the Texas poultry industry. Excellent communication skills,
verbal and written, are required. Rank and salary will be commensurate
with qualifications and experience.
The Department of Veterinary Pathobiology is one of five departments
in the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. The
department includes 70 faculty members with diverse backgrounds and
research interests. Areas of research strength and faculty expertise
include host-pathogen interface in infectious disease, genomics related
to disease resistance, metabolic disease, parasitology, immunology,
virology and avian disease. Signature programs within the
College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences include cardiovascular
science, environmental toxicology, comparative genetics, neuroscience,
reproductive biology and infectious disease/biodefense. The successful
candidate is expected to work with the Department of Poultry Sciences
in research and extension.
The Department of Poultry Science has a diverse and dynamic mission
with 18 faculty members engaged in teaching, research, and extension
at several locations throughout the state, nation, and world. Areas
of research are: environmental impact, food safety and nutrition,
molecular genetics and bioinformatics, health and welfare, processing
