[DNA Core Facility] [Fluorescent Genotyping]

All sequencing is done with the ABI 3130 Genetic Analyzer, an automated high-through put capillary electrophoresis system used for analyzing fluorescently labeled DNA fragments. This machine injects sixteen samples at one time into a capillary array 80cm long. During electrophoresis a laser excites the labeled DNA and the resulting fluorescence is collected by a CCD camera. The 3130 Data Collection Software reads and interprets the data which is then displayed an as electropherogram.

New Big Dye Kit:

The dGTP Kit was developed for use with difficult templates where the standard Big Dye kit gives early signal loss. GT rich, G rich and templates with certain sequencing contexts or motifs are best sequenced with the dGTP kit.
