JOINT / TENURE TRACK,
FACULTY POSITION
The Department of Veterinary Pathobiology,
College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences,
and the Department of Poultry Science, College of Agriculture,
Texas A&M University, invites applications for a joint,
tenure-track, fully funded, 12-month faculty position in
applied poultry health research. Applicants must possess
a DVM (or equivalent degree) or PhD degree. Candidates who
are board certified or eligible by the American College of
Poultry Veterinarians or American College of Veterinary Microbiologists
will be preferred. Experience in applied poultry research
or extension is highly desirable. The successful candidate
will establish an externally funded research program aimed
at solving poultry health related issues and work in conjunction
with other faculty and extension personnel serving the Texas
poultry industry. Excellent communication skills, verbal
and written, are required. Rank and salary will be commensurate
with qualifications and experience.
The Department of Veterinary Pathobiology is
one of five departments in the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical
Sciences. The department includes 70 faculty members with
diverse backgrounds and research interests. Areas of
research strength and faculty expertise include host-pathogen
interface in infectious disease, genomics related to disease
resistance, metabolic disease, parasitology, immunology,
virology and avian disease. Signature programs
within the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical
Sciences include cardiovascular science, environmental toxicology,
comparative genetics, neuroscience, reproductive biology
and infectious disease/biodefense. The successful candidate
is expected to work with the Department of Poultry Sciences
in research and extension.
The Department of Poultry Science has a diverse
and dynamic mission with 18 faculty members engaged in teaching,
research, and extension at several locations throughout the
state, nation, and world. Areas of research are: environmental
impact, food safety and nutrition, molecular genetics and
bioinformatics, health and welfare, processing and ingredient
technologies, and educational programs. For more information
